BLOGMAS: Christmas in a Bowl – Banana Cinnamon Porridge

There are certain things that I really strongly associate with Christmas, and only Christmas 🎅 Love Actually is one of them (be prepared to see several gifs of Hugh Grant dancing to The Pointer Sisters during the course of this whole blogmas thing). Baileys is another – I literally only ever drink it in December. Another thing I really only associate with Christmas – mainly because I don’t actually like it very much – is cinnamon.

You’d never catch me doing the cinnamon challenge but, over the festive period, I will gladly put up with a touch of those winter spices because they do make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Scented candles, holiday cookies, I’ll go with it all for the sake of Christmas. So, with that in mind, I’ve come up with a way to make even my breakfast (a bland bowl of porridge oats for anyone interested) more festive because, you know, why not?

So, this is how I did it…
(Serves 1)

  1. Right, so this couldn’t be easier. If you’re lazy, like me, you’ll heat up your porridge in the microwave for a couple of minutes with water – but it really doesn’t matter, just make up your bowl of porridge however you like. You do you.
  2. Once the porridge warmed up, I threw some sliced banana and just a small sprinkle of ground cinnamon in there, and topped with a drizzle of honey. To get the flavours working together, stir it through so the cinnamon mixes with the sweetness of the honey and banana and gives the oats a real nice taste.
